Site blocking bypass app

When a blocked site won't open this device helps

Gureum changes DNS on this device and sends the site name (SNI) in pieces, with no remote VPN server. It helps some HTTPS connections that drop because of that name. It does not change your IP or country, and it does not open HTTPS contents.

  • On this device
  • IP and country stay
  • HTTPS contents not opened

When to turn it on

When to turn it on

A site can fail to open for several reasons. Gureum helps some HTTPS connections that drop because of the site name (SNI), on this device.

A site won't open, or a warning page shows

If a site you could open suddenly stops, or a warning page appears, the drop may be the site name (SNI). Gureum helps some of those cases on this device.

You want a DNS other than the carrier's

Pick Cloudflare, Google, or Quad9 on this device. A DNS change alone does not open a connection that drops because of its name.

A remote VPN server feels like too much

Traffic does not go through a remote VPN server. Your IP and country stay the same.

It helps with drops caused by the site name (SNI). It does not open blocks aimed at an IP address or a game server, and it doesn't block ads.

Features

What a site blocking bypass
needs

Turn it on, pick a DNS, and send the site name in pieces.

Tap the cloud to turn it on

Tap the cloud in the middle and protection starts on this device.

Pick a DNS

Cloudflare, Google, or Quad9. This sets where lookups go; a DNS change alone does not open a connection blocked by its name.

The site name goes out in pieces

It sends the site name (SNI) in pieces when a connection starts, which helps with some drops caused by that name. It does not open a block on an IP address.

No remote VPN server

Traffic is not sent to a remote VPN server. Your IP stays the same, and HTTPS content is not decrypted.

  • The split and DNS choice stay on this device
  • HTTPS content is not decrypted
  • No remote VPN server

How it works

Three steps,
on this device

Allow the permission, then tap the cloud. DNS and the split name are handled on this device.

  1. 1
    Tap the cloud

Once you allow it, protection starts.

  2. 2
    Pick a DNS

Lookups go to the DNS you pick. A DNS change alone does not open a connection that drops over its name, so that name goes out in pieces too.

  3. 3
    Send the name in pieces

The site name (SNI) goes out in pieces. That helps some connections that drop because of the name. HTTPS content is not decrypted.

Privacy

Analytics receives
two things

The Gureum app sends Google Analytics two things: whether protection is on, and the DNS type. Visited site names and a custom DNS address are not sent, and ad personalization is off. For the connection itself, lookups go to the DNS you pick and the split site name goes to that site. Visits to this page are counted apart from the app.

  • Only protection state and DNS type
  • Site names do not go to Analytics
  • A custom DNS address is not sent
  • Ad personalization is off
  • Lookups go to the DNS you pick

Two things go to Analytics

Whether protection is on, and which DNS type you picked.

These numbers count what the app sends to Google Analytics. They are separate from what leaves the device to resolve a name or reach a site.

FAQ

Site blocking bypass questions

What is a site blocking bypass app?

It is an app that helps a blocked site open. When an HTTPS connection drops because of the site name (SNI), Gureum changes DNS on the device and sends that name in pieces. It does not change your IP or send traffic to a remote VPN server.

Which blocks does it help with?

It helps with some HTTPS blocks that use the site name (SNI). It does not open blocks aimed at an IP address or a game server, and it does not block ads.

Why won't a blocked site open?

It depends on where the block sits. The lookup (DNS) can be blocked, the IP can be blocked, a game server can be blocked, the device can block it, or the HTTPS connection can drop over the site name (SNI). Gureum helps with some drops caused by the site name.

Does it open sites that show a warning page?

Yes, when the warning appears because of the site name (SNI). It changes DNS and sends that name in pieces. It does not open blocks aimed at an IP address or a game server.

How is this different from a regular VPN?

A remote VPN can send traffic to a VPN server and change your IP or path. Gureum does not send traffic to that server. On this device it changes DNS and handles only the site name (SNI). It does not change your IP or country.

Can I bypass a site block without a VPN?

Gureum uses no remote VPN server. It changes DNS on this device and sends the site name (SNI) in pieces, which helps with some HTTPS connections that drop because of that name. It does not open blocks aimed at an IP address or a game server.

Does it change my IP address?

No. Gureum does not change your IP or your country. It does not send traffic to a VPN server overseas.

Does it block ads?

No. Gureum is not an ad blocker. It changes DNS and splits the site name (SNI).

Does it read HTTPS?

No. Gureum does not open or decrypt HTTPS contents. It handles DNS and the site name (SNI) sent when a connection starts.

What does splitting the site name mean?

When an HTTPS connection starts, Gureum does not send the site name (SNI) all at once. It sends it in pieces, which helps with some connections that drop because of that name. HTTPS content is not decrypted.

What if the blocked site still won't open?

If it still won't open with Gureum on, the block may not be about the site name (SNI). Gureum does not open a block on the site address, a game server, or a block you set on the device. To try only a DNS change, pick Cloudflare, Google, or Quad9.

A blocked site won't open. What should I do?

Check whether other sites still open. If the warning page appears on one site and the address is HTTPS, the site name (SNI) may be why it drops. Tap Gureum and try that site again.

How do I bypass HTTPS blocking on a phone?

Turn Gureum on and allow the permission once, then tap the cloud in the middle. From then on it changes DNS on this device and sends the site name (SNI) in pieces when a connection starts.

Which DNS can I choose?

Cloudflare, Google, or Quad9. Lookups go to the DNS you pick.

Cloudflare, Google, or Quad9: which one should I pick?

All three resolve addresses. Which one to pick depends on each provider's policy, and Gureum sends lookups only to the DNS you choose. Visited site names are not sent to Analytics.

Will it slow my connection?

It does not go through a remote VPN server, so the path does not get longer the way a remote VPN does. Actual speed depends on your network and the DNS you pick.

Do I need an account?

No. You can turn Gureum on without signing up.

Does it work on Android and iPhone?

Android and iOS. Store links will appear on this page when they are ready.

Is the app code public?

This page is public. The app code is not.

Do you send the sites I visit?

No. Site names and a custom DNS address are not sent to Google Analytics. Whether protection is on and the chosen DNS type are. Ad personalization is off. DNS lookups go to the resolver you pick.
